Ghibli Park opens final area to visitors with stunning attractions and shops!

In 2017, Studio Ghibli made an exciting announcement that would eventually become a reality for fans worldwide. Aichi Prefecture was chosen as the site for an enchanting theme park inspired by the beloved films of the studio.

Fast forward to November 2022, and the gates of Ghibli Park swung open, inviting visitors to step into a faithfully recreated world of Ghibli’s imagination.

The anticipation built further when the park unveiled its second installment, a domain honoring the deeply forested realms of “Princess Mononoke.”

However, the excitement has reached new heights with the introduction of the highly anticipated Valley of Witches.

This final expansion, premiering for the press on February 28, 2024, and set to welcome the public from March 16, offers an immersive dive into magical landscapes portrayed in “Kiki’s Delivery Service,” “Howl’s Moving Castle,” and “Earwig and the Witch.”

At the heart of this new section is the awe-inspiring Howl’s Castle, which enchants onlookers by sporadically emitting smoke. A delightful replica of Gütiokipänjä, the quaint bakery from “Kiki’s Delivery Service,” allows guests to taste the world of the film firsthand.

Step into the Okino Residence, a two-floor domain where every corner vividly represents the film’s charming details, from a potion-filled witch’s shop to the intimately detailed bedroom of Kiki.

One can also immerse themselves in the world of hat-making at the Hatter Hat Store—Sophie’s workplace from “Howl’s Moving Castle”—and even bring home a hat or sweet treats packed in whimsical tins.

Young visitors can enjoy a magical carousel with figures from various Ghibli films and further fuel their imaginations with the “Flying Machine” attraction, a nod to the flying inventions in “Laputa: Castle in the Sky.”

The adjacent Airplane Tower playground captures the spirit of innovation and aeronautical dream.

Wandering the streets of the Valley, guests are greeted with stone walls evoking a sense of a mystical, bygone village. Not to be missed is the clock tower crowned with witches in mid-flight, where one can ascend for sweeping vistas of the park.

For a gourmet interlude, the Flying Oven serves European-inspired dishes, while Hot Tin Roof’s cat paw buns make for a delightful treat. Shops like Witch Coven 13 tantalize with their unique and varied merchandise.

With the opening of this final area, the park introduced new tickets providing access to the entire park. The O-Sanpo Day Pass offers a casual stroll through the park’s many worlds.

The Premium O-Sanpo Pass grants additional entry to select coveted buildings like the World Emporium and other iconic structures such as Satsuki and Mei’s House.

Mark the date, as tickets for the grand opening of the Valley of Witches go on sale March 9.
