Luxury Cruise Ship Silver Nova

Recently, I had the opportunity to reflect on the majestic Silver Nova, an ultra-luxury cruise ship that made its way to Japan this spring.

Miyajima in Spring
Upon my recent return to Korea, it was delightful to reconnect with the Silver Nova after a year and a half.
The ship continues to impress with its stylish and sophisticated aesthetic.
Each cabin boasts unique, asymmetrical designs, along with balconies for every guest.
The charm of the cruise experience remains evident with complimentary drinks, including House Champagne’s “Duval-Leroy,” and the option to indulge in room service caviar at no extra cost.
On this cruise, the basic shore excursions were included in the fare, which epitomizes the luxury cruise experience.
On the third day, we docked at Hiroshima Port and participated in a tour to visit one of Japan’s renowned scenic spots, Miyajima, known for its breathtaking views.
The journey from the dock to the ferry terminal required a bus transfer.
With a passenger group made up of 99% foreign guests, our knowledgeable Japanese guide shared insightful commentary in fluent English.
He added a touch of humor by showcasing a flag featuring a stunning ukiyo-e portrait of a beautiful woman, explaining, “This is my grandmother. She was a very beautiful lady.”
His engaging personality ensured that no one got lost or arrived late at the meeting point throughout our excursion.
While cherry blossoms were just starting to bloom, the foreign visitors appeared to be enjoying themselves thoroughly.
Many took photos with the iconic Great Torii gate and the friendly deer that roam the island.
Some even purchased unique items, including the “Miyajima” wooden rice scoop, despite not knowing its exact use.
The atmosphere was lively with laughter and awe as we explored the cultural heritage of this significant location.
The sacred island, recognized for its rich history and stunning scenery, offered a plethora of sights and experiences.
I observed tourists snapping pictures and savoring local delicacies, such as grilled oysters, which are a specialty of the region.
Visitors were drawn to the famous Itsukushima Shrine, which appears to float on water during high tide.
The architectural beauty of this shrine, with its vermilion colors, harmonizes beautifully with the surrounding landscape.
I felt a sense of serenity as I experienced the spiritual ambiance here, deeply rooted in Japanese tradition.
As the day progressed, I appreciated the blend of vibrant cultural experiences and the tranquil environment that Miyajima offers.
My time here was a joyful mix of exploration and indulgence, fueling my desire to learn more about Japan’s cultural richness.
The combination of natural beauty and historical significance made my visit memorable, and the seamless organization of our tour was commendable.
Engaging with both tourists and locals added layers to my understanding of this unique destination, leaving a lasting impression.
Luxurious Butler Service for a Dreamy Bath Time
On this cruise with Silver Sea Cruises, one standout feature is the butler service provided in every suite.
From the moment I was greeted, I experienced a level of attention that extended to unpacking, packing, laundry, shoe polishing, and room service among other offerings.
During my recent stay, I decided to try the bath salt service for the first time.
A sharply dressed butler arrived with a large tray featuring three types of bath salts.
I was invited to choose from the fragrances of fig, herbal notes, or orange blossom.
Once I made my selection, the butler began preparing the bathtub for my experience.
The process was thorough.
The butler filled the tub with warm water and added the bath salt.
He also created an inviting atmosphere with soothing music, champagne, macarons, and candlelight.
Stepping into the completed bathroom felt transformative; it resembled a dreamlike sanctuary.
As I soaked in the bath while listening to healing music, I could feel the tension in my mind and body easing away.
The crisp and refreshing champagne paired well with the sweet, indulgent macarons, making it feel like a well-deserved treat after a long day.
I was pleasantly surprised by how effective the warm water was at relaxing my muscles; even after leaving the bath, I didn’t feel the need for a jacket for some time.
This bath experience was quite distinct from the traditional Japanese baths but offered a unique form of relaxation.
Of course, the accommodations on the Silver Nova also play a significant role in enhancing this experience.
Booking a room with a bathtub is something I would highly recommend.
The service, combined with luxurious amenities, guarantees a blissful bath time that stands out during the cruise.
