Akiyoshido Cave Tour
Visiting the Akiyoshido cave system in Yamaguchi Prefecture is a unique adventure. This vast limestone network is one of Japan’s largest.
The newly introduced tour allows exploration of areas once closed to visitors. This enhances its allure.
During the journey, I encounter fascinating crustaceans. There are also striking rock formations.
A highlight of the tour is an underground lake reminiscent of the famous Blue Grotto in Capri, Italy. This stunning feature is accessible after a one-hour hike.

The lake measures approximately 25 meters in width and 10 meters in depth.
The tour offers two distinct options. The longer course spans about 3.5 hours and covers a two-kilometer round trip.
For those seeking a shorter experience, a two-hour course is available. This involves a one-kilometer round trip.
Akiyoshido encompasses a total of 11 kilometers. These tours only capture a glimpse of the cave’s extensive beauty.
