This event, organized by the Kyoto Heritage Preservation Association with support from The Asahi Shimbun, runs until May 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The \u201cSpecial exhibition of Kyoto\u2019s hidden cultural properties\u201d showcases treasures typically closed to the public across Kyoto, including the adjacent city of Yawata.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Yawata, two notable locations\u2014Iwashimizu <\/a>Hachimangu shrine<\/strong> \u548c Shokado Garden and Art Museum<\/strong>\u2014are part of this initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In Kyoto\u2019s Minami Ward, visitors can explore the first floor of the five-story pagoda at Toji Temple<\/strong>, recognized as a national treasure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This year marks the first participation of the Association of Kyoto Traditional Culture Foundation, which is presenting costumes and artifacts associated with the Aoi Festival<\/strong>, one of Kyoto’s three significant festivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A preview event held on April 25 at Koshoin Temple featured a reproduction of the festival’s procession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This includes the \u201cSaio-dai,\u201d an emblematic figure of the Aoi Festival, accompanied by her retinue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The life-sized statues are adorned in intricate costumes resembling those worn during the actual procession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Moving toward Fushimi Ward, which serves as the exhibition’s focal point, visitors will find six temples and shrines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Two of these have kept their historical collections private until now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Among them is Kitamukizan Fudo-in Temple<\/strong>, linked to Emperor Emeritus Toba (1103-1156), showcasing a statue of the Buddhist deity Fudo Myoo<\/strong>, classified as an important cultural asset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Enmyo-in Temple<\/strong> features a traditional painting on a cedar door illustrating a rooster, attributed to Ito Jakuchu<\/strong> (1716-1800), which became accessible starting May 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Additionally, Kamigamojinja Shrine<\/strong> and the nearby Umetsuji family residence<\/strong>, along with Shimogamojinja Shrine<\/strong>, welcome guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The main entrance of Konkai Komyoji Temple<\/strong>, as well as the Ohojo and Kohojo study halls in Chion-in Temple<\/strong>, are also open for viewing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Other participating sites include Zuishin-in Temple<\/strong>, Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine<\/strong>, Daiunji Temple<\/strong>, Anrakujuin Temple<\/strong>\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca Chokenji Temple<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The exhibition is available for the public from April 26 to May 11, although specific hours may vary at different locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Generally, admission is priced at 1,000 \u65e5\u5143<\/strong> ($7) for adults and 500\u65e5\u5143<\/strong> for junior high and high school students, with some sites offering differing rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Proceeds from ticket sales will contribute to the preservation and repair of cultural properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For additional details, please refer to the Kyoto Heritage Preservation Association’s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u8fd8\u8bf7\u9605\u8bfb\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u4eac\u90fd Nishiki Market \u4fbf\u5f53\u8bc4\u6d4b\uff1a\u4f20\u7edf\u7684\u5473\u9053<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u53d6\u6d88\u4eac\u90fd\u4e00\u65e5\u4e58\u8f66\u5238\uff1a\u5e94\u5bf9\u6e38\u5ba2\u62e5\u6324\u7684\u63aa\u65bd<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Kyoto Preparing to Help Foreign Tourists During Natural Disasters: 2025 Strategies and Support Systems<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Rare Access to Shrines and Temples In Kyoto Exhibition I am excited to share that a unique spring exhibition featuring sixteen shrines and temples in Kyoto has opened new access to private statues and architectural elements.
