This anime series is one of my personal favorites of all time. It has an interesting story plot with lovable characters and is quite popular for its thrilling action scenes and mild romance.
The storyline features the medieval ages in Europe and introduces a group of compelling knights who are known as the Seven Deadly Sins who live in the Kingdom of Liones in Britannia.
The Seven Deadly Sins were falsely accused of overthrowing the Liones Kingdom and were expelled from the kingdom. The Holy Knights were responsible for this accusation and claimed to have executed the Seven Deadly Sins.
However, the people living in the kingdom believed that the Seven Deadly Sins were still alive. Ten years after the incident, the Holy Knights staged a coup to overthrow the king and capture the kingdom. This led them to become the new oppressive rulers of the kingdom who mistreat people and rule unjustly.
Due to the tyrannical rule in the kingdom, the third princess Elizabeth sets out on a journey to look for the Seven Deadly Sins who could assist her to win the kingdom back.
On her quest to look for the mighty knights she’s faced with exhaustion and starvation and accidentally stumbles across a talking pig and a boar hat tavern. They take her to their owner Melodias.
She learns that Melodias is the leader of the Seven Deadly Sins and that the group was long split and no longer together. This is one of the tv shows like hunter x hunter that you should definitely watch.
However, Melodias agrees to help her find the other six members of the group and aid her with her mission to recapture the kingdom. I especially love this scene and it's also one of my personal favorites because of its adventurous plot. The graphics are so well done that it almost gave me goosebumps while any of the mysterious scene would appear.
This series has amazing and colorful sceneries as the story continues to go in-depth. It almost feels like a mystery puzzle that has to be solved and also makes you feel a part of the story. It also resembles several aspects of Hunter x Hunter and its story plots which are bound to keep you entertained.

Naruto is one of the best anime like Hunter x Hunter that will not disappoint you. Although I watched Naruto way before I watched Hunter x Hunter, it still reminded me of the scenes and themes similar to one another.
Naruto is an anime about a young boy who aspires to become the next Hokage, the strongest ninja in his village. The village is constantly under threat from other villages and powerful enemies, and it's up to Naruto and his friends to protect their homes.
Naruto is based on a popular manga series of the same name. As you watch Naruto, you’ll find a lot of similarities between the Uchiha Clan from Naruto and the Kurta Clan from Hunter x Hunter.
Both the clans are extremely good at holding power and only one survivor is left behind at the end who turns extremely powerful. This is one of the shows like hunter x hunter that you should definitely watch!

My Hero Academia
My Hero Academia depicts the bigotry superhumans have towards ordinary men and women. It features the world where superhumans who make up the vast majority of the population frown upon ordinary human beings for not being ‘special’.
These superhumans possess special powers called Quirks. The superheroes hinder the missions of the supervillains who want a world of their own.
In this show, the protagonist is a boy called Izuku Midoriya who’s obsessed with superheroes. His dream is to become the world’s best superhero just like his idol All Might.
However, Izuku is just an ordinary boy without any quirk powers who has an unrealistic dream. He gets bullied in his school for having such ambitions and surprisingly meets All Might who saves him from the ordeal. By meeting his favorite superhero he gets the opportunity to join the school for heroes known as My Hero Academia.
There he learns to acquire quirk powers and practices how to control them in order to become a superhero. As he goes on to learn in the academy he realizes that becoming a superhero is quite a tough job and requires great sacrifices.
He also begins to realize how superheroes discriminate against normal human beings.
This show is an ideal pick for Hunter x Hunter fans as it contains mind-blowing action scenes and also teaches lessons about humanity.
Demon Slayer
This anime is currently trending and has received positive reviews for its emotional and enthralling storyline. The story revolves around a young boy called Tanjiro Kamado who works in the village to feed his family.
Once he returns home he finds out that a demon mercilessly killed his family but fortunately his sister survived the attack.
However, she’s a half-turned demon and the demon slayers in the village try to kill her. Tanjiro saves his sister and pledges to become a demon slayer to protect and cure his sister and to avenge the death of his family. He boards the Infinity Train with his friends to destroy the demon who killed his family.
This story can relate to Hunter x Hunter as both Tanjiro and Gon set out to achieve their goals and become better versions of themselves.
Blue Exorcist
This anime focuses on dimensional elements. The story revolves around Rin Okumura and his twin brother Yukio Okumura. They were raised by their foster father Shiro Fujimoto who’s an exorcist.
Suddenly, one day Rin learns that he and his brother are sons of Satan. Satan is the ruler of the demon world Gehenna who’s ambition was to gain control of the human world Assiah.
For this, he needed to find a way to enter into the human world but he couldn’t because his powers were limited.
This led Satan to let his blood flow through a human woman who bore the children of Satan. Satan thought his sons would return back to him and help him achieve his mission in capturing the human world Assiah.
But his sons were loyal to the world they grew up in and decided to team up against him.
One day when Rin witnesses Shiro dying to protect him he learns about his powers and he possesses a tail, fangs, and blue flames that destroy anything he touches.
Rin is not quite impressed with his demonic self and hence decides to become a strong exorcist to be able to battle Satan. For this, he joins the True Cross Academy which is an exorcist school.
There he learns exorcism that’d help him defeat Satan. He’s accompanied by his brother and his friends who help him in his mission.
Hunter x Hunter fans would love this show as it features intense action scenes and the path to realization.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
This anime is one of the masterpieces ever made. The storyline focuses on two brothers Alphonse and Edward Elric. They are amateur students in alchemy and live normal life.
After losing their mother to a terminal illness they are both left devastated. This causes them to use their alchemy practice and other forbidden methods to bring their mother back to life.
As they start the resurrection process, they completely fail it and end up losing their body parts. Alphonse is left without a body and Edward loses an arm. Edward using his alchemy knowledge trap Alphonse’s soul in a suit of armor to keep him alive.
After a year Edward joins the military which will aid him in finding the Philosopher’s stone. This mythical stone would help him reclaim his and his brother’s lost body parts.
On his quest to look for the Philosopher’s stone he uncovers dark top secrets of the government. His new mission becomes to reveal all the government secrets and save his country.
Fullmetal Alchemist has an interesting concept and a well-written plot. Similar to Hunter x Hunter, this anime gets darker the further you watch.
Code Geass
This story features a medieval era where the Emperor of Britannia was ruling the lands. The emperor has a son called Lelouch and a daughter called Nunnally who witnessed the murder of their mother. Nunally was left blinded and traumatized afterward. Lelouch was furious at his father for not caring about the ordeal of the family.
This led Lelouch to be exiled from the kingdom and was sent to Japan with his sister as pawns. Later the Britannian kingdom invades and captures Japan naming it Area 11.
Lelouch furious about his father’s actions pledges to destroy the Empire of Britannia and avenge his mother’s death.
He meets a few friends along the way and finds a way into the kingdom through the defense system which would ultimately lead him inside the kingdom. Code Geass has an amazing story plot that keeps you nail-biting throughout the show.
